Two Differently Spotted Puppies Shared the Same Cardboard Box
Two puppies with very different coats are fast asleep in the same cardboard box. One is brown and white with a freckled muzzle, her eyes squeezed shut and a long ear folded forward. The other is black and white, with his face pressed to the cardboard and his front paws crossed beneath his chin. Crinkled paper lines the bottom. Beyond the box, a couch, a lamp, and a heap of colorful toys are scattered across the living room floor.
Cardboard boxes are puppy favorites because they give a feeling of enclosure, much like a den. A box with low sides, soft padding, and a quiet spot can make a comfortable temporary bed. Paper and cardboard should be checked often, though, because puppies like to chew and swallow bits, which can upset their stomachs. Swap the paper for a soft blanket, and replace the box when it gets worn or chewed. Your vet can help with questions about bedding.
Spotted and patched coats are called parti-colored in Cocker Spaniels, and they come in a surprising variety of patterns, including black and white, brown and white, and tricolor. Whatever the color, spaniel puppies tend to love company, and napping side by side helps them bond.
Different coats, same dream, same box. It's a sweet reminder that best friends come in all patterns.
