Two German Shepherd Puppies Slept Through Everything on This Quilt
Faces down and eyes closed, two black and tan puppies sleep side by side on a patchwork quilt of faded florals, checks, and polka dots. One pup rests her chin on the fabric with her tan paw stretched forward, and the other nestles against her shoulder. Behind them a basket of laundry and a potted plant sit near a pile of knitted caps, making the room feel warm and well-used.
German Shepherds were developed in Germany in the late 1800s as herding and working dogs, and they remain famous for intelligence, loyalty, and a strong desire to have a job. Even as puppies, that brainpower shows. They learn quickly, which is a gift when training goes well and a challenge when boredom leads to mischief. Early, gentle, reward-based training and plenty of mental play can help channel all that cleverness.
Sleep matters a lot for growing puppies, and big-breed pups especially need lots of rest between bursts of play. A quilt is a cozy choice, but check it for loose threads that could catch small claws, and wash it regularly. Large breeds like this one can also be prone to joint problems later in life, so talk to your vet about healthy growth, food, and exercise from the start.
For the moment, these two have plenty of time before any herding duties begin. The quilt is soft, the room is quiet, and a long nap comes first.
