Five Sable Shepherd Puppies Piled Into a Bicycle Basket
A stack of five sable puppies has filled a woven bicycle basket to the brim, with heads and paws tumbling over each other. The pup at the top stares out with her mouth slightly open, the middle ones look at the camera with soft brown eyes, and the one at the bottom is hidden except for a pair of paws on the rim. The bike's handlebars are visible behind them, and shoes and garden pots hint that the ride has not started yet.
Sable coloring, with its layered tan and dark hairs, gives these pups a wild-wolf look, though the breed is fully domestic and known for loyalty to its family. Puppies in a litter tend to climb on each other without a care, which is part of how they learn what is gentle and what is too rough.
Riding a bike with a dog is a different story. Puppies should not ride in a basket on the road, as a sudden stop could cause a fall. When your shepherd is grown, ask your vet whether jogging or biking alongside her is suitable for her joints and age, since large breeds are often advised to wait until they are fully grown. Until then, short walks and play are enough exercise for young pups.
For now, the bike is parked, the basket is full, and five very comfortable puppies have no plans to go anywhere.
