Grandpa Wanted a Selfie With Jasper. Jasper Has Clearly Done This Before.
Grandpa is posing for a selfie-style portrait, and he could not look prouder. Leaning in close on the old porch, his grey beard neatly trimmed and his eyes crinkled into a warm smile, he wears a moss green cable-knit cardigan over a navy tee. Pressed right up against his shoulder is Jasper, his spotted brown Bengal, whose coat glows gold with dark rosettes and whose bright green-gold eyes stare straight ahead as if he has done this a hundred times before.
Bengals are known for their wild-looking spotted or marbled coats, which can have a subtle glittery sheen in the light. Despite that jungle appearance, they are domestic cats with big personalities. They are typically very active, highly intelligent, and deeply curious, and many form strong bonds with their people. Because they have so much energy, Bengals do best in homes that offer daily play, climbing spaces, and puzzle toys. For an older adult, that lively companionship can be a real joy. A cat that greets you each morning, follows you around, and demands your attention gives the day structure and plenty of reasons to laugh.
Some people collect stamps. Others collect selfies with their best friend. Judging by this one, Grandpa and Jasper are going to need a very large photo album, and maybe a lesson on how to send these pictures to the grandkids.
