Grandpa Was Washing the Car. Domino Had Completely Different Plans.
The car was supposed to be the one getting washed, but Domino has other plans. Grandpa stands in the driveway in his fishing vest and rolled sleeves, scrubbing the side of an old navy sedan with a sponge while the garden hose sends a stream of water arcing across the pavement. Domino has reared up on his hind legs, mouth wide open in a delighted grin, trying to catch the spray mid-air. Water splashes off his spotted coat, a bucket of soapy suds sits on the wet concrete, and puddles shimmer in front of the garage door.
Water play can be a great way for energetic dogs like Dalmatians to cool off and burn energy on a warm day. Just be mindful of what's in the water. Car-washing soaps, waxes, and cleaners aren't safe for dogs to drink, so try to keep them away from the suds and the bucket. Driveways and garages can also hold a more serious hazard: antifreeze. It has a sweet taste that attracts pets, and even a small amount can be life-threatening. Clean up any spills right away and store automotive fluids securely. If you suspect your dog has swallowed antifreeze, contact your vet or an emergency clinic immediately.
As for Domino, he's having the time of his life, and Grandpa is laughing too hard to scold him. The car may end up only half clean, but nobody's complaining.
