First Snow of the Year, and Ziggy Needed the Best Seat in the House
Snow is drifting down over the yard, dusting the woodpile, a green watering can, and a pair of rubber boots left by the steps. Right up against the glass, Hank is hugging Ziggy to his chest so the Bengal can get a proper look. Ziggy stretches tall, long spotted legs dangling, eyes locked on something beyond the window, while Hank tilts his head and smiles with the quiet patience of someone who has done this every winter morning.
Window watching is a big deal for cats, especially indoor ones. Moving snowflakes, birds at a feeder, and leaves blowing across the yard all trigger a cat's natural urge to track motion, and that kind of mental stimulation helps keep curious, energetic breeds like Bengals from getting bored. A sturdy window perch or a cleared sill gives a cat a safe lookout without needing to be held. In cold weather, it is worth checking for drafts around the frame, since many cats will happily sit by a chilly window for a long time. Keep blind cords tied up and out of reach, and make sure screens are secure before opening any window in milder months.
There's a certain kind of friendship where one of you does the lifting and the other does the looking. Hank and Ziggy seem to have that arrangement down perfectly, and the snow isn't going anywhere.
