Grandpa Ken Made a Big Bowl of Popcorn for Movie Night. Mochi Put Her Paws Up.
A glass bowl heaped with fluffy popcorn sits in Grandpa Ken's hands, and it is clearly movie night. Ken settles back on the couch in an olive sweater vest over a blue shirt, glasses perched low, smiling down with gentle amusement. Mochi has planted herself right below the bowl, front paws up on his knee, fluffy cream ears drooping as she gazes up at the popcorn with soulful, hopeful eyes. A knit throw drapes the sofa, a mug and a houseplant sit on the side table, and framed photos line the wall behind them.
Popcorn is one of the most common snacks dogs beg for during movie night. A few pieces of plain, air-popped popcorn without salt, butter, or seasoning are generally considered safe for most dogs. Buttered and salted popcorn, however, is too rich, and unpopped kernels can be a choking hazard or get stuck in teeth. For a small dog like a Havanese, even a few pieces count as a treat, so portions should stay tiny. A better idea is to have a dog-safe chew or a few pieces of kibble ready so your pup has her own snack during the show.
Ken's smile suggests he might be about to give in. Mochi's pleading eyes are nearly impossible to resist.
Whatever is playing on the screen tonight, the real star of the evening is sitting right in Ken's lap.
