Snow Dusted the Yard, So Frank and Marion Lifted Cocoa Up to See It

AI imagechocolate poodlewinter windowsnow day

Seen through the frosty pane of an old window, Frank and Marion are beaming with their cheeks nearly touching, and between them they are holding Cocoa up so she can see out. Her curly chocolate front paws rest on their arms, and she peers through the glass with a curious, slightly puzzled expression, as though wondering what all the fuss outdoors is about. Marion's grin is enormous, and Frank's eyes crinkle behind his glasses. Outside, bare trees and a dusting of white cover the yard, while a pair of green watering cans and a few garden tools sit forgotten on the frosty sill.

Winter weather can be exciting for dogs, but some need a little help adjusting. Poodles have a single curly coat, and dogs that are clipped short can feel the cold, so a dog sweater or coat is often useful on chilly walks. Paws need attention too. Ice, snow, and de-icing salt can crack or irritate paw pads, so wiping feet after walks and using pet-safe ice melt at home helps. Antifreeze is a serious danger to dogs because it tastes sweet but is highly toxic, so any spills should be cleaned up right away. If a dog seems reluctant to go outside in the cold, shorter, more frequent outings may suit them better.

Cocoa might still be making up her mind about the white stuff outside, but she has the best view in the house, and two very happy people holding her up to see it.
