Frank Got Behind the Wheel of the Old Truck. Cocoa Made Sure She Wasn't Left Behind.
The old pickup truck has seen plenty of miles, with faded paint, a cracked dashboard, and a worn bench seat, but it is perfect for a ride with the family. Frank sits behind the big steering wheel in his cable-knit sweater, glasses on and grinning ear to ear, while Marion snuggles close beside him with a delighted laugh. Cocoa has squeezed onto the bench in front of them, her curly chocolate coat filling the doorway and her mouth open in a happy, pink-tongued smile, a blue collar peeking out from her curls. Through the windows, the porch and garden shelves of home are visible, as if the trio has not quite left the driveway yet.
Plenty of dogs love car rides, and keeping them safe makes every trip more relaxing. A dog loose in the front of a vehicle can distract the driver and can be seriously hurt in a sudden stop. A crash-tested harness clipped to a seat belt, or a secured crate in the back, is a much safer setup. Front seats with airbags are generally not recommended for dogs. Dogs should never ride loose in an open truck bed. And on warm days, a parked vehicle can become dangerously hot very quickly, even with the windows open, so dogs should never be left inside alone.
Wherever this drive takes them, Cocoa looks thrilled to be part of the crew. With a full cab and three happy faces, the journey is already the best part.
