Pearl Takes the Passenger Seat of Grandpa's Old Pickup
Inside the old pickup, golden morning light spills across the dashboard as Grandpa glances over at his passenger with a soft smile. His cardigan has the worn, comfortable look of a long-time favorite, and a blanket and water bottle rest in the cab. Pearl the white Poodle sits in the middle of the seat with her red-brown collar neat and her curls gleaming, gazing straight ahead as if she were navigating. The porch of a house and a few potted plants are visible through the window. The windshield is a little dusty and the seat a little worn, which only adds to the charm.
Dogs love car rides, but they are safest when properly restrained. A harness that clips to the seat belt or a well-secured crate helps protect both dog and driver, and a window cracked open only enough to give fresh air is safer than letting her hang her head outside. Keep water handy, plan stops on longer trips, and never leave a dog alone in a parked vehicle. Poodles often enjoy car trips because they love being part of whatever their person is doing.
Pearl takes her role as co-pilot seriously. She keeps her eyes on the road, her ears alert, and her attention on Grandpa's every move. The ride may be short or long, but the company is always excellent. A truck this well loved deserves a passenger like her.
