Pebble Inspected Grandpa's Old Photographs One by One
Grandpa leans over a kitchen table covered in black-and-white photographs, glasses low on his nose and a thoughtful smile on his face. Pebble leans in from the corner of the frame, her round face close to the pile and her golden eyes fixed on the images. A mug, a folded cloth, a houseplant, and a bright window fill the warm kitchen.
The faces in the pictures look out from another time, and he handles each one with care. Pebble watches with a very serious air, as if she has been asked to help identify everyone.
Cats are curious by nature, and anything new on a table gets a thorough sniffing. Old photographs can be delicate, so keep them away from claws and paws, and put them back in a box or album afterward. Her sense of smell is much stronger than ours, so she is probably getting a great deal of information from the papers. Offer her a safe toy to sniff instead, like a catnip pouch, and a nearby place to sit. If she tends to chew paper, ask your vet about it.
Each picture has a story, and Grandpa will happily tell them all. Pebble seems like she has all the time in the world to listen. By the end of the afternoon the pile will be sorted into neat stacks, and the stories will have been told twice over.
