Grandpa Dipped His Feet in the Lake. Juniper Kept Her Paws Dry
Gus has rolled up his overalls and let his bare feet dangle into the cool lake water, one hand resting on his knee and a relaxed smile on his face. In front of him, Juniper sits at the edge of the dock like a tiny sentry, her fluffy white chest puffed out and her blue eyes fixed across the water. The yard and wooden fence behind the lake glow with soft evening light, and the boards are warm beneath them. His cap hangs on a post nearby, and the quiet is broken only by the occasional ripple as a fish turns below the surface.
A lake dock is a peaceful spot, but it also calls for a few safety habits. Cats are usually careful, yet slippery boards and a splash can surprise anyone, so supervision matters, and a harness gives extra peace of mind. Water that sits in the sun can get warm, so offer your pet fresh drinking water instead of letting her sip from the lake. Thick-coated cats like Ragdolls can overheat in hot weather, so shade and a break from the sun are helpful.
Juniper obviously prefers to keep her paws dry, and she is happy to watch from a safe distance. Gus, meanwhile, has the better deal and knows it. A quiet lake, a gentle breeze, and a loyal companion make an easy way to end the day.
