Grandpa Wrapped Juniper in a Warm Blanket After the Rain
The rain has stopped, and Gus has wrapped Juniper snugly in a plaid blanket, his weathered hands holding it closed under her chin. Only her face and a pair of white front paws peek out, and she stares into the distance with a patient look. A pair of rubber boots and a watering can stand nearby on the damp porch, and fallen leaves stick to the boards. The blanket is thick and soft, with a tartan pattern in cream and tan, and it makes her look even rounder than usual.
After a wet outing, a cat should be dried gently. A soft towel or blanket helps get the chill out of her coat, and it is a good idea to check her paws and fur for mud and debris. Thick fur like a Ragdoll's can hold water for a long time, so a warm room afterward is a kind finishing touch. If she shivers for long or seems unwell, call your vet. Many cats enjoy being wrapped loosely, but if she wiggles to get free, simply let her go.
Juniper has accepted her blanket burrito without complaint, and Gus is taking his time with the careful tucking. A little rain doesn't spoil much when the porch is dry and the blanket is warm. It is a snug, quiet end to a damp day. Some of the coziest moments come right after the weather turns.
