A Jack Russell Hit the Backyard Puddle at Full Speed. He Wasn't Alone.
Splash first, think later. A soggy white and tan Jack Russell Terrier is wading through a wide backyard puddle, droplets flying off his paws, while a damp little lamb trots right alongside him with the same determined step. Behind them sits a tipped-over blue bucket, a forgotten flowerpot, a towel spread on the grass, and a weathered wooden fence. The terrier glances sideways at his woolly buddy as if checking that the lamb is still keeping up, and the lamb clearly is.
Jack Russells are small dogs with enormous energy. They were bred to work, and they tend to be bold, clever, and endlessly curious, which means they need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation to stay happy. A bored Jack Russell often invents its own entertainment, and it may involve digging, chasing, or, yes, puddles. After a muddy romp, a quick rinse and a good towel-dry keep their short coat clean and help prevent skin irritation. Lambs, on the other hand, are not big fans of staying wet and cold for long, so a dry, sheltered spot afterward is a kind idea for any young animal.
Some friendships are built on quiet naps, and some are built on muddy adventures. These two seem to have chosen the second kind, and judging by the spray of water around their legs, they are having a wonderful time doing it.
