Nobody Is Pushing the Wheelbarrow, but These Two Passengers Don't Mind

All aboard the wheelbarrow express. A scruffy blue and tan Yorkshire Terrier sits upright in a battered gray wheelbarrow, ears perked and dark eyes fixed on the lamb lounging beside him. The lamb has settled into a bit of straw at the bottom, legs folded, gazing back with a calm, sleepy look. Behind them, the backyard is in the middle of a spring cleanup: a blue watering can on the porch steps, potted plants, a crumpled jacket, and garden gloves lying wherever they were last dropped. Nobody is pushing the wheelbarrow, but neither passenger seems to mind.

Yorkshire Terriers may be small, but they were originally bred to catch rats in mills and mines, and that spunky terrier spirit is still very much alive. Yorkies are typically confident, alert, and devoted to their families, and they often act as though they are much bigger than they are. Their silky coat is more like human hair than fur, so it needs regular brushing or a short trim to stay tangle-free. Because they are so small, Yorkies can be injured by falls or by rough play with larger animals, so supervised introductions and safe, low perches are always a good idea.

Here, the little terrier seems to have appointed himself captain of the wheelbarrow, with the lamb as his very relaxed first mate. Wherever they are headed, they are going there together, and they look entirely pleased with the arrangement.
