Sunlight Hit the Back Deck. A Bichon and a Baby Goat Found It First.
Warm sunlight streams across the weathered boards of the back deck, and two sleepy friends have found the perfect spot to soak it up. A curly white Bichon Frise lies with its chin resting on the wood, dark eyes half open and a mop of fluffy fur framing its face. Pressed close beside it, a tan and white baby goat has nodded off completely, eyes shut and head tucked against the Bichon's cheek. Behind them, potted plants, a garden shed, and a pair of blue garden shoes sit in the bright spring light.
Sunny decks are lovely spots for pets to relax, but wooden surfaces can heat up quickly on warm days and become uncomfortable or even hot enough to hurt paw pads. Check the boards with the back of your hand before letting animals lounge there for long, and make sure shade and fresh water are available. Bichons have white coats and pink skin in places, so limiting midday sun exposure is a good idea. Their curly coat also needs regular brushing and trims to prevent matting. Baby goats love basking in the sun, but they should always have access to a shaded, sheltered spot as well.
Some afternoons are made for adventure. Others are made for doing absolutely nothing in the sunshine with your favorite companion. These two clearly know which kind of day this is.
