Pip the Yorkie Led the Way Down the Path. Hazel Was Right on His Heels.

Leading the way down the gravel path is Pip, a blue and tan Yorkshire Terrier with perky ears and a confident little strut. Right on his heels comes Hazel, a fuzzy tan baby goat with floppy ears and a curious, determined face. The pair travel along the narrow side yard between the house and the garden, past a blue flowerpot, a pair of rubber boots on a mat, and climbing vines on the siding. Pip pauses to glance back, as if checking that his new follower is keeping up.

Baby goats often attach themselves to whoever spends the most time with them, and that can include a friendly family dog. Kids are herd animals by nature, which means they feel safest staying close to a companion. Still, goats do best with at least one other goat for company, since a dog can't fully meet their social needs. When small dogs like Yorkies and baby goats share space, supervision matters. A goat's hooves and headbutts can accidentally hurt a tiny dog, and even small terriers have a prey drive. Short, calm meetings with plenty of praise build trust. A secure fence keeps both explorers safe from wandering too far.

Pip and Hazel look like they're off on an important errand, maybe to check the garden or investigate the back gate. Wherever they're going, they're going together.
