Nobody Was Driving the Tractor. Two Passengers Had Already Boarded.
Someone left the old tractor seat empty, and two very small drivers have taken over. A gray Sphynx cat sits alert on the worn black cushion, her big ears pointed up and her wrinkled skin catching the light. A golden puppy, Biscuit, has curled up against her side, one paw draped over the edge and his nose resting on the seat. Behind them are a plaid blanket, a lamp glowing warmly, and the cluttered corner of a farm workshop.
Sphynx cats have little or no fur, which means they often look for warmth, whether from sunny spots, blankets, or a friendly companion. Because their skin is exposed, they may need regular gentle cleaning and protection from cold and strong sun. If you are thinking about adopting one, a breeder or your vet can explain what their care involves. Many Sphynx cats are very social and enjoy being close to people and other pets.
A warm, sleepy puppy makes an ideal heating pad. Puppies run warm and love to snuggle, which is one reason mixed pet pairs can look so cuddly. Still, always give a cat an easy way out. A cat who can leave a cozy spot whenever she likes is far more likely to stay by choice.
The tractor isn't going anywhere today. With a cat on lookout and a puppy sinking into the cushion, this seat has never been so comfortable, or so well staffed.
