A Slow Wagon Ride Across the Yard Carried Two Unlikely Friends
A small wooden wagon is rolling gently across the yard, and its two passengers look perfectly relaxed. A cream Scottish Fold sits upright with his folded ears and round, watchful eyes, like a tiny captain. Beside him, a golden puppy named Biscuit has fallen fast asleep with his head on the rail. A soft gray blanket cushions the ride, and the hand on the handle at the lower corner is pulling slowly and carefully past the fence and garden tools.
Wagon rides can be a fun outing for small pets, as long as they are done safely. Go slowly, use a wagon with sides high enough to keep everyone in, and pad the bottom with something soft. Stay on smooth ground and never leave pets alone in a wagon, since a curious cat or wriggly puppy could hop out or tip it over.
Many cats feel nervous in new situations, so it helps to let them get used to the wagon while it is parked, with a favorite blanket inside. Puppies often take to it faster and may simply nap through the whole trip, as this one does. Watch each animal's body language. Flattened ears, a lashing tail, or a lot of crying means it's time to stop.
The cream-colored cat doesn't seem worried at all. With a sleeping friend next to him and a gentle driver in charge, the whole yard has become his scenic route.
