Two Thirsty Friends, One Steel Bowl, and No Arguments at All
Thirst has brought two very different faces together over a single steel bowl. A red Maine Coon, shaggy and broad, dips his head to drink with his ear tufts and whiskers framing the water. Right beside him a brown-gold puppy named Biscuit laps away too, his small ears flopped forward. The wooden floor is clean, a houseplant sits by the wall, and a basket of blankets waits in the corner.
Maine Coons are one of the largest domestic cat breeds, with thick fur and tufted ears. They have a reputation for being friendly and sociable, which is why they sometimes get along nicely with dogs. A cat of that size can also hold his own around a lively puppy.
Sharing a water bowl is generally fine for healthy pets, but fresh water matters. Clean the bowl daily, and wash it with soap and hot water regularly to keep bacteria down. Many cats prefer wide, shallow bowls because deep ones can bother their whiskers, and some like running water from a fountain. If you notice a pet drinking much more or less than usual, mention it to your vet.
Meanwhile, nobody here is arguing over whose turn it is. They are drinking together as if they have always done it, and that kind of ordinary teamwork is the sweetest sign of a friendship.
