A Tabby and a Puppy Became One Round, Fluffy Shape on the Couch
Where does the cat end and the puppy begin? On the green couch, it is hard to tell. An orange tabby has curled into a perfect circle with his nose tucked under his paw, and a creamy golden puppy has wrapped himself around the curve of the cat's body. Their colors blend like toast and honey. Behind them, a cluttered living room with blankets and a plaid pillow completes the cozy picture.
Curling into a ball is a classic sleeping pose for both cats and dogs. It helps animals keep warm and protects the belly and other vulnerable areas, an instinct that goes back a long way. Cats may sleep 12 to 16 hours a day, and puppies often sleep even more while they grow.
Every pet's need for rest is real, so a quiet, comfortable sleeping spot is worth setting up. Soft bedding, a safe place away from foot traffic, and a regular routine all help. If you notice a big change in your pet's sleep habits, such as sleeping far more or far less than usual, check in with your vet.
This pair has settled into the kind of sleep that makes everyone else yawn. Nobody wants to wake them, and for good reason. When two animals fit together this neatly, it's best to simply let the couch do its job.
