A Bulldog and a Birman Turned the Leaf Pile Into a Playground

Someone raked a perfect pile of leaves, and these two have wasted no time ruining it. A fawn and white Bulldog sits at the left with his wrinkled face turned toward his friend and a leaf stuck to his paw. A seal point Birman reaches out one white-gloved paw beside him, her blue eyes lit with mischief. The brown, orange, and yellow leaves crunch around them, and a watering can and potted plant sit by the open door.

Bulldogs are known for their stocky bodies, wrinkled faces, and calm, friendly dispositions. They usually enjoy short bursts of play followed by long naps. Because of their flat faces, they can have trouble breathing in heat and during hard exercise, so gentle play is best.

Autumn leaves are a pet favorite, but pile play has a few caveats. Wet leaves may hide mold, and some can be toxic if chewed, such as certain ornamental plants. Check the pile for sharp objects, and discourage pets from eating leaves, since a mouthful can upset the stomach. Brush your pet afterward to remove burrs and debris.

The leaf pile may not look the same afterward, but nobody is complaining. A little crunch, a little chase, and one patient Bulldog watching his friend play make for the perfect fall afternoon. Raking will have to wait until they are done.
