A Beagle and an Orange Cat Said Hello Among the Sunflowers
A row of sunflowers nods in the evening light, and in the middle of them two friends are touching noses. A lemon and white Beagle sits upright with his long, soft ears falling forward and his nose pressed toward his friend. Facing him, a fluffy orange longhair holds her ground with her tail curled behind her and her whiskers glowing. A wooden fence and a warm lamp in the distance suggest that the day is winding down.
Beagles are friendly, curious hounds with an incredible sense of smell. They tend to be sociable and enjoy company, which can make them good companions for cats. Because they follow their noses, a secure fence or leash is important so they don't wander off after an interesting scent.
A nose touch is a classic greeting among animals, and the calm way these two are doing it suggests they know each other well. Cats and dogs can learn each other's body language over time. A soft tail, relaxed ears, and slow movements are all good signs.
Sunflowers aren't generally considered toxic to cats and dogs, though it's best to keep pets from chewing on any garden plants. The seed hulls can cause stomach upset if swallowed in quantity. For now, the flowers are simply a golden backdrop to a friendly hello, and no one has any reason to leave.
