A Pile of Leaves Came Inside and the Puppy Dove Right In
A giant pile of crunchy maple leaves has somehow made it onto the living room floor, and a silver tabby Scottish Fold is not sure how he feels about it. His folded ears lie flat against his round head and his gaze drifts off to the side with a thoughtful, slightly unimpressed look. Waffles the puppy has no such doubts. He has flopped into the leaves with his nose resting on one, as content as a bear in a den.
Scottish Folds are known for their folded ears and sweet, round faces, but they are also quiet, gentle cats that often bond closely with their families. That unusual ear shape comes from a genetic trait that can be linked to joint and cartilage problems in some cats, so it is worth talking to your vet about the breed's health needs if you are thinking about one. Autumn leaves make for great sniffing and rolling, but check dogs and cats afterward for burrs, sticks and thorns. Piles of leaves can also hide sharp objects, damp patches or mold, so keep pets away from anything that looks soggy or spoiled.
The pup has found his favorite season, and the cat seems content to supervise from the edge. It is a very crunchy kind of friendship. Outside, the real leaves are probably still falling, and this pair would happily take every last one of them.
