A Tuxedo Cat and a Tortoise Shared the Doorstep and the View
The doorstep is weathered and worn, and two neighbors have claimed it. A black and white tuxedo cat sits upright with her yellow eyes turned to the side and her white bib neat against her dark fur. Moss the tortoise rests next to her with his neck stretched out and his claws gripping the edge of the step. A blue-framed door, a small potted plant and a pair of sandals sit behind them.
Doorsteps are a great place for pets to watch the world go by, as long as they are safely enclosed. Tuxedo cats are known for being outgoing and playful, with a lot of personality, though their coat color has nothing to do with their temperament. Tortoises, meanwhile, enjoy a bit of sunshine and fresh air in a secure outdoor space. If you let a tortoise outside, keep a close eye on him, since even a slow tortoise can wander off, and make sure no other pets or wildlife can harm him. A shared moment on the step is a gentle pleasure.
The two of them look out at the same view, calm and quiet. The cat is alert, and the tortoise is steady. It is a peaceful moment, and they seem content to share it for as long as the afternoon lasts. Whoever opens the blue door next will find a very patient welcoming committee waiting right there on the step.
