A Ragdoll and a Bunny Had Front Row Seats to the Chicken Show
The fence is wire, the view is excellent and two furry spectators have claimed the best seats. A cream point Ragdoll with soft blue eyes sits close to the mesh, and beside her a fluffy tan lop-eared bunny watches with equal interest. On the other side, a small flock of chickens scratches in the dirt, and a blue watering can, a few boots and clay pots sit nearby. The cat's ears turn toward every cluck, and the bunny's whiskers twitch as a hen struts a little too close to the wire.
Chickens, cats and rabbits can share a backyard, but they need separate spaces for safety. Chickens carry germs that can affect other animals and people, so wash your hands after handling poultry and keep feed and water areas clean. Cats are natural hunters and may try to pounce on birds, so supervision and secure fencing are a good idea.
Ragdolls tend to be gentle and quite curious, and many like to watch what is going on outside. A secure patio or a window perch can give indoor cats plenty of stimulation without the risks of roaming. Bunnies enjoy gentle fresh air too, as long as they are safe from heat and predators.
The chickens carry on with their day, and the two friends keep watching. Some entertainment is best enjoyed from a safe distance. The backyard is a show with no end. A good show needs a good audience.
