A Pug Puppy and a Pony Became One Big Fluffy Ball on the Couch
On a green couch heaped with blankets, a fawn Pug puppy has curled up as tight as he can, his face tucked into the soft wool of a fluffy cream pony. The pony's head is resting right on top of the puppy, and the two have merged into something like one round cloud. A mug, a basket, and some scattered shoes crowd the room behind them.
Pugs are well known for their snuggly nature. They like to be physically close to their people, and a puppy who finds a warm companion will often press in as tightly as he can. Their short, smooth coat does not hold much heat, so they appreciate soft blankets and warm bodies. A vet can help you plan how to keep a pug comfortable through all seasons.
Curling into a ball is a natural sleeping position for a lot of animals, since it conserves warmth and protects the body. Ponies often sleep standing up, but when they feel very safe, they lie down for deeper rest. A puppy and a pony sleeping in a heap would be an unusual sight, but for a calm, close friendship it makes sense, since each one gives off warmth.
Everything about the scene is soft: the blankets, the wool, the sleepy sighs. A couch is a good place for it, and the two are in no hurry to get up. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.
