A Basset Puppy Had a Giant Bed and Made Room for a Pony
Long ears, big paws, and a very soft bed: the Basset puppy has everything he needs. He sits on a huge cream-colored dog bed with his droopy ears hanging beside his freckled face and his big eyes turned up toward the pony. Pepper, the tan pony beside him, lies with his legs folded and his nose lowered toward the puppy, his messy mane falling over his forehead.
The room behind them is calm and bright, with wood floors, a blue laundry basket, a plant, and a pair of boots near the door. A stuffed toy and a chew bone lie on the floor. A gray couch with a blanket sits against the wall.
Basset Hound puppies are gentle, curious, and a bit clumsy, with very long ears and very short legs. Their ears need regular cleaning, and their long backs need protection, so avoid letting them jump from high places. They have excellent noses and may follow a scent at any moment, so a secure space is a must. A big round bed gives them a comfy place to rest. Ponies are large and need open space and proper shelter, so a living room is not a typical place for one. When pets of different sizes are together, an adult should always supervise.
The bed is big and the room is quiet. Some friendships begin with the simplest invitation: there is room for you here.
