A Dalmatian Puppy and a Pony Stood Quietly by the Pond at Dusk

The evening is calm, and the pond is a mirror. A Dalmatian puppy with big black ear patches and a spotted white coat stands at the left of the frame, his head turned toward his friend. Beside him, Pepper the shaggy brown pony gazes out across the water with a soft dark eye and a messy mane.

Dalmatian puppies are playful and athletic, and they need plenty of exercise as they grow. They are social dogs that often love the company of other animals, including horses. Ponds are lovely, but they carry risks: steep banks, slippery edges, and algae can be dangerous for pets, and the water may not be safe to drink. Keep an eye on animals near water, and provide clean drinking water elsewhere. If you have a pond and plan to let pets near it, talk to your vet about safety. For ponies, a pond edge can be muddy and unstable.

The ripples are gone and the sky is turning gold. Two friends standing together make even a small pond feel large.
