The Pomeranian Found the Warmest Pillow on the Whole Farm

A woven rug is spread out on the dirt by the farmhouse door, and two sleepers have made it their bed. A sable Pomeranian with a thick fox-colored ruff has tucked his face into the calf's neck, and a brown-and-white calf rests her chin on the rug beside him with a soft, content look. A potted plant, a fence and a few autumn leaves surround them.

Pomeranians are small dogs with huge personalities, with a thick double coat that makes them look like fluffy little lions. They are alert, lively and loyal, and they can be a bit bold with bigger animals. Their coat needs regular brushing, and because they are tiny, they should be supervised closely around larger animals.

A thick-coated dog like a Pomeranian can overheat in warm weather, so cooler spots and water are important. In winter, they often enjoy snuggling into something warm. It is not unusual for a small dog to seek out the warmest body nearby, and a calf makes an excellent heat source.

There is no better pillow than a friendly neighbor. Clover and her little fluffball seem very pleased with the arrangement, and nobody has any plans for the next hour. The rug is a little worn, and that only makes it more comfortable. Fluffy coats and farm rugs have a lot in common: both are best enjoyed lying down.
