Everyone Feared the Big Rottweiler Until He Met the Creek Lamb
Water flies in every direction as a black and tan Rottweiler bounds through a shallow creek, tongue out and eyes bright. Right beside him, a white lamb picks her way over the wet stones, her wool a little damp at the edges. The bank behind them is a tangle of weeds and old fence posts, and the afternoon light catches the droplets in the air. For a dog with such a serious reputation, he looks delighted to be splashing next to a creature a fraction of his size, and the lamb, Cotton, seems to trust him completely.
Rottweilers have a stern look, but well-bred and well-socialized ones are typically loyal, steady and affectionate with their families. They are strong, powerful dogs that benefit from early training and regular exercise, and many of them love water play. Wading is gentle on the joints, which makes it a nice workout on a warm day. Lambs are surprisingly capable on their feet, though young ones tire quickly and chill easily when wet, so a dry spot and a warm rest afterward matter. Anyone letting a dog and a farm animal share the outdoors should stay close and keep things calm, so an excited moment never gets too rough.
The creek keeps running, the splashes keep flying, and two very different friends keep moving at exactly the same happy speed.
