One Metal Bowl, Two Thirsty Friends, and a Very Wet Beard
Two thirsty friends lean over one big metal bowl in the backyard. A black and silver Miniature Schnauzer, his eyebrows and beard dripping, laps at the water while a white lamb dips her pink nose in beside him. Ripples spread across the surface and the gray fence behind them leans a little with age. A small blue watering can hangs on the wall in the background. They drink at exactly the same pace, as though they had agreed on turns without a word. Cotton finishes first and looks up for a moment. A few drops fall from the Schnauzer's whiskers and splash into the bowl.
Miniature Schnauzers are sturdy, alert terriers with a scruffy beard and lots of personality. They tend to be smart, energetic and a little bossy, and they need regular brushing and trimming to keep that classic look. Because their beards soak up water, a wipe after drinking keeps things tidy. Fresh, clean water should always be available for pets and for any farm animals, and bowls should be washed regularly. Sharing a bowl is fine for friends who get along, but if a pet is ill or on a special diet, give each their own and ask your vet what's right. Some Schnauzers love to dunk their whole faces, so a mat under the bowl saves the floor.
It's a tiny moment, just two animals having a drink, but it looks exactly like friendship. The garden hose can wait. So can everything else.
