The Frenchie and the Lamb Watch Frost Grow on the Window
Frost has painted white feathers across the windowpane, and on the seat beneath it a cream French Bulldog and a white lamb sit shoulder to shoulder. The Frenchie's big bat ears stand tall and his wrinkled face looks thoughtful. The lamb gazes at the glass as well, ears drooping slightly, curious about the cold world outside. A knitted blanket in soft green and cream lines the seat. Cotton turns her head to look at her friend, as if to ask what he makes of the weather. A faint puff of breath fogs the glass near the lamb's nose.
French Bulldogs are affectionate, playful and often clownish. Their flat faces make them sensitive to heat and sometimes to breathing trouble, so they should stay cool in summer and avoid strenuous exercise. In winter they have little fat and short coats, so they tend to like indoor warmth. Frosty window ledges can be cold for pets, so a cushion helps. Lambs will often spend winter days resting in sheltered spots with soft bedding, and a draft-free place keeps them comfortable. If you have a flat-faced breed, ask your vet about the best way to keep them healthy. Dogs and lambs alike benefit from a regular routine, even in the quiet winter months.
Outside, the frost keeps growing, but at this window it's snug and quiet. The kettle may be boiling somewhere, but they're not listening.
