The Sunflowers Stood Tall While Two Friends Rested Below
The sunflowers are taller than the fence, and the afternoon is as golden as the flowers. A yellow Labrador Retriever sits proudly in the grass with her mouth open in a happy smile, ears relaxed and chest out. Beside her, Copper the chestnut horse has folded his legs and settled down, his ears turned toward his friend. Rows of yellow blooms stretch behind them, and the sky is soft and warm.
Labrador Retrievers are among the most popular family dogs in the United States, and it is easy to see why. They are friendly, eager to please and usually great with other animals. They also love food and swimming, and many need regular exercise to stay in good shape. Keeping a Lab at a healthy weight helps protect the joints and heart, so measure meals and ask your vet what is right for your dog. If you are outside on a sunny day, remember that dogs can overheat, so make sure there is shade and fresh water nearby. A field of flowers is a lovely place to rest, but keep an eye out for bees.
The Lab looks like she has been told a very good joke, and Copper looks like he is happy to have heard it. Wherever the afternoon goes next, it seems to be in no hurry. A sunny field, a faithful friend and a few hundred sunflowers are a pretty fine way to spend the day.
