The Devon Rex and the Bunny Were Not Ready to Leave the Quilt
The quilt is puffy and soft, and two sleepyheads are peeking out from under it. A cream Devon Rex with enormous ears and half-lidded eyes looks out with a sleepy frown, and next to her a gray-tan lop-eared bunny lifts her nose, ears flopped to one side. The folds of the quilt make a little cave around them, and a bit of the living room shows in the background.
Devon Rex cats have a very short, wavy coat that does not hold heat as well as some other breeds, so they often seek out soft blankets and warm spots. Rabbits, on the other hand, can be sensitive to heat but are usually comfortable in cooler rooms. If your rabbit shares space with a cat, make sure she has her own quiet, safe place to rest, such as a hutch or pen. Soft bedding is a nice touch, but a quilt with loose threads can be a risk for chewing, so keep an eye out. Introduce pets gradually, and watch for signs of stress. Your vet can help you set up a safe, comfortable home for both of them.
Neither of them seems quite ready to get up. The morning is gentle, the quilt is warm and the day can wait a little longer. It is the sort of quiet start that makes a house feel like home.
