The Wood Stove Kept the Room Warm, and Two Sleepers Kept Each Other Company
The black wood stove stands quiet in the corner, a basket of logs beside it, and a brown tabby Maine Coon has curled up in front of it with his bushy tail wrapped around him. Next to him, a tan lop-eared bunny rests with her ears folded down and her eyes closed. They share a woven blanket on the floor, and a plaid throw hangs on a chair nearby.
Maine Coons are known for being friendly giants, and many are laid-back with other pets. Brown tabbies are very common, and the classic stripes help them blend into the shadows. Wood stoves are cozy, but they can be hot, so a sturdy guard and a safe distance are important for any pet. Rabbits can overheat easily and may become stressed by a warm room, so make sure your rabbit has a cooler space to retreat to. A cat and rabbit who are comfortable together may nap near each other, but supervision remains important, since cats have claws and rabbits have delicate bodies. Talk to your vet about keeping both pets safe near a heat source.
It is a peaceful evening, and the two of them look entirely at ease. The cat's chest rises and falls, and the bunny's ears twitch once in her sleep. Even the logs seem to be keeping quiet.
