A White Cat and a White Bunny Found the Coolest Spot in the Yard
Leafy branches hang overhead, and in the cool grass below sits a fluffy white cat with copper eyes. Next to her, a snowy lop-eared bunny rests her chin on the grass, ears flopped on either side. The two almost look like a matching pair, soft as clouds against the green. A plant pot, a gray wall and a door stand quietly in the background.
Shade is important for every pet in warm weather. Rabbits are especially sensitive to heat and can suffer if the temperature rises too much, so they need shade, fresh water and a cool place to rest. Cats appreciate a shady spot too, particularly white cats, which can be more sensitive to the sun and may need protection for their ears and noses, so ask your vet about sun safety. An apple tree can be a lovely shade provider, but fallen fruit and seeds should be cleaned up, since apple seeds and rotting fruit are not good for pets. Supervise cats and rabbits when they share an outdoor space.
There is a little breeze in the leaves and a warm quiet in the air. The two white friends look as if they belong together, and the afternoon seems to agree. It is a perfect, slow hour in a tidy garden. A leaf flutters down and lands between them, and neither bothers to look up, content to let the shade do all the work.
