A Bulldog Became a Warm Wall for His Cat Friend on a Snowy Morning
Snowflakes dust the fur of a fawn and white Bulldog who has curled himself around a cream-colored cat with a dark chocolate face. The cat leans into his chest with her blue eyes half closed, and his wrinkled face rests just above hers like a pillow. Behind them are a wooden wall, a bit of garden hose, and a pair of old boots by the door, with snow lying on everything. A thin layer of white has settled on his back like powdered sugar.
Cold weather is hard on pets, and while a thick-coated dog and cat may enjoy a short romp in the snow, they still need to come in and warm up soon. Short-nosed dogs such as Bulldogs and fluffy long-haired cats can both feel the chill, and frostbite can affect ears, paws, and tails. After a snowy outing, dry them well and give them a warm spot. If you're concerned about the cold, talk to your vet.
What is striking is how deliberately the Bulldog has arranged himself. His strong shoulders form a wall against the wind, and the cat tucks in as if she has done this a hundred times. It looks like the quietest, warmest corner of a cold, quiet day.
A dog and a cat sharing warmth is a simple sight, but it tells a long story about trust. The snow keeps falling, and neither of them minds one bit.
