A Tiny Shih Tzu Puppy Sits Beside a Pony in the Sunflower Patch
A tiny white and tan Shih Tzu puppy looks up with a bright, hopeful face, and beside him a fluffy beige pony sits on the dry grass with his front legs folded neatly. Behind them, a wall of sunflowers glows in the golden light of late afternoon. The pony's mane falls in soft strands over one eye and his gaze is turned politely downward. A wooden fence and a house peek out in the distance. It feels like a tiny summer postcard.
Shih Tzus were bred as companion dogs and have a long history as pampered pets. They are friendly, outgoing and love to be around people. Their long, silky coat needs regular brushing, and many owners keep it trimmed in a shorter puppy cut to make care easier. Their eyes are large and prominent, so it's good to keep the hair out of their faces and check with a vet if you notice irritation. Ponies, for their part, are hardy animals that need good hay, clean water, hoof care and company, and they are often happiest with a friend by their side.
The size difference here is sweet and a little funny. One is the size of a cushion, the other is the size of a sofa, and yet they sit side by side as equals. The sunflowers lean in as though they approve.
