The Laundry Basket Was Full of Warm Towels, a Corgi and a Pony
A wicker laundry basket brimming with towels has become a nest for two. At the front, a Corgi puppy with a white blaze peeks out, big dark eyes looking straight ahead. Curled right behind him, a fuzzy tan pony has tucked himself into the basket as well, his long forelock draping over his closed eyes. The towels are rumpled and soft, a blue bag and some slippers sit on the floor, and a houseplant rests by the wall. It is a very snug fit, and no one seems to mind.
Corgis were bred as herding dogs in Wales, and they are known for being smart, alert and energetic despite their short legs. They often have a lot of opinions and love having a job to do, whether it's learning tricks or tidying up the household. Corgis can be prone to weight gain, and their long backs mean it's wise to avoid too much jumping from furniture. Dogs love warm, soft, enclosed places like baskets, because they feel safe and cozy. A pile of warm towels fresh from the dryer is just about the nicest bed they can think of.
The basket might be small, but the friendship in it looks big. The pony sleeps, the puppy watches and the laundry waits another day. Sometimes the best place to be is wherever it's warmest.
