A Boston Terrier Puppy Curls Into a Ball Beside a Resting Pony
On a striped blue-and-cream rug, a black-and-white Boston Terrier puppy has tucked himself into a tight little ball with his nose against his paws. Right behind him, a fuzzy tan pony rests his head low, with his long forelock falling forward and his eyes half closed. A weathered wall, a potted plant and a bit of fence stand in the background and the grass shows at the edge of the rug. It looks like a peaceful, shaded corner of the yard.
Boston Terriers are friendly, lively little dogs from the United States, sometimes called the American Gentleman because of their tuxedo-like coat. They tend to be affectionate and eager to please, and they often get along well with other animals. Like other flat-faced breeds, they can have trouble in heat or during intense exercise, so keeping them cool and giving them plenty of rest is important. Curling up in a tight ball is a natural way for a dog to keep warm and feel secure. If your dog seems to have breathing trouble, talk to your vet.
The puppy's tiny ball against the pony's big, soft shape makes a very good contrast. Both look settled and sleepy. It's the picture of a quiet afternoon, with nothing to do but rest. Even the weathered wall and the little potted plant seem to be holding still so as not to wake them.
