A Black Pug Keeps Watch Over a Sleeping Silver Tabby
A black Pug has stretched out on a thick knit blanket, and his big paw is draped over a small silver tabby who is fast asleep in the curve of his body. The cat's face is tucked down, her stripes are neat and her tail wraps around her toes. The Pug's wrinkled forehead rests above her, his eyes closed, as though he is guarding something precious. A potted plant, a pair of slippers and a sofa sit in the background. It's a warm and slightly messy living room.
Pugs are small, sturdy companion dogs, known for their expressive wrinkled faces and clownish nature. Their flat faces mean they can overheat easily and may snore loudly, so a cool room and moderate exercise are important. Silver tabbies are a coat variety found in several breeds, including American Shorthairs, and they tend to be adaptable and friendly. When a cat chooses to sleep in a dog's embrace, it's a sign of real trust. Giving each pet a separate bed is still a good idea, so each can have space when it wants it.
The Pug's heavy paw looks like a blanket of its own. The cat doesn't stir, and the dog doesn't move. There is no better picture of a gentle friendship than a sleeping cat in a safe spot. The room is warm, the blanket is thick and nobody has anywhere else to be this afternoon.
