A Bearded Schnauzer and a Tuxedo Cat Share One Patch of Sunlight
A rectangle of sunlight falls across a wooden floor, and two housemates have found it. A salt-and-pepper Miniature Schnauzer lies with his front paws crossed and his bearded face turned thoughtfully to one side. Next to him, a black-and-white tuxedo cat sits upright with her white paws neatly tucked and her pink nose catching the light. The room is bare except for a white wall behind them. The light is warm and the air looks very still.
Cats and dogs both love to sunbathe, and a patch of sun can be a prime piece of real estate. Cats often stay in the sun because they enjoy warmth and prefer higher temperatures than people do. A Miniature Schnauzer is a sturdy, alert and devoted small dog, usually friendly with other pets when raised with them. Tuxedo is a coat pattern, not a breed, and these cats are often described as outgoing. Make sure there is a shaded spot and fresh water available for both pets, since sunbathing can lead to overheating, and ask your vet about sun safety.
Nobody is in a hurry to leave. The dog's calm gaze and the cat's upright posture make a nice pair, and the light slowly shifts along the floor. A sunny spot is always better when it's shared. Eventually the light will move on and they'll move with it, but for now the floor is warm and the afternoon is long.
