A White Poodle and a Russian Blue Squeeze Into the Same Box
A plain cardboard box has become a tiny shared room. A white Poodle with soft, tightly curled fur sits inside, her face turned toward a sleek blue-gray Russian Blue cat sitting just beside her. They look at each other from only inches apart, as if sharing a thought. The box sits on a wooden floor beside a pale wall, with a woven basket and a gray blanket nearby. The corners of the box are bent and soft from use.
Many cats are drawn to boxes, and it may be because a snug, enclosed space feels safe and helps them hold in warmth. Dogs sometimes enjoy them as well, especially small ones. Poodles are among the most intelligent dog breeds, with a lively, eager nature, and their curly coat doesn't shed much but does need regular grooming. Russian Blues are known for their dense, silvery coat and gentle, reserved personalities. If your pets share a box, make sure it's sturdy and free of staples or tape that could be swallowed or snag fur, and give each pet its own spot as well.
The box may be small, but the two of them have worked out a way to fit. Their quiet look says plenty. Sometimes the best friendships are the ones that fit in a cardboard box. The floor is warm, the room is quiet and neither one seems to have any intention of climbing out.
