A Big Silver Cat Sat Close as Ducklings Lined Up to Drink
A shallow gray bowl of water sits on the wooden floor, and a flock of yellow ducklings has gathered round it to drink. A big, fluffy silver Norwegian Forest Cat sits just behind it, her pale eyes watching every dip of a tiny bill. Baskets of blankets and a window with white curtains fill the room behind. We'll call the cat Frost. The ducklings dip, lift, and shake their heads, sending tiny drops across the boards, and the cat's whiskers twitch with each splash.
Norwegian Forest Cats are sturdy, long-haired cats that originated in the cold forests of Scandinavia. They have thick, water-resistant coats and strong climbing skills. They are friendly and gentle, and many love to watch what goes on around them from a high perch or a comfortable spot on the floor. Their calm, patient nature often makes them tolerant of small, noisy animals.
Ducklings drink often and tend to splash a lot, so they need shallow, clean water that they can dip their whole bill into. The water should be deep enough to clear their nostrils but too shallow to risk drowning, and it should be changed often. Cats can be curious about water, but it is best to keep their bowl separate.
Frost keeps a close watch, and the ducklings drink without worry. It is a quiet, sweet scene. Every splash seems to be a small adventure, and the floor will need mopping later.
