The Porch Lights Came On, and One Fluffy Kitten Started Counting Every Bulb
Little orange lights twinkle across the porch ceiling while the evening settles in, and a fluffy cream Persian kitten sits right at the edge of the steps, gazing up as if counting every bulb. Its long, silky fur puffs out in every direction, its round copper eyes are wide with wonder, and its tiny flat face carries a sweet, serious expression. Around it, a big orange pumpkin and a small striped gourd rest near the doorway, fallen leaves dot the boards, and the yard beyond glows in the last of the autumn daylight.
Persian kittens grow into calm, gentle cats that usually prefer a peaceful home and plenty of comfortable resting spots. Their long coats need daily brushing from an early age to prevent mats, and their eyes may need gentle wiping to keep tear stains in check. Decorative string lights are lovely, but cords can attract a playful kitten. Chewing on electrical cords can cause burns or shocks, so hang lights out of reach, use cord protectors where needed, and unplug decorations when you are not around to supervise. Kittens also do best indoors once the trick-or-treaters arrive.
With the porch lights shining above and that fluffy face looking up in amazement, this little one seems to think the whole display was put up just for her. On a night like this, maybe it was.
