The Wagon Was Supposed to Haul Pumpkins. Biscuit Had Other Plans.

The wagon was supposed to haul pumpkins up to the porch, but Biscuit the cream Havanese has decided the best seat is right in the middle of the load. Surrounded by a dozen round orange pumpkins of every size, tucked between stems and dried oak leaves, the shaggy little dog sits tall and looks straight ahead with sparkling dark eyes and a perfectly fluffed coat. A pot of orange mums, paper bat cutouts climbing the porch post, a blue tote bag, a pair of sneakers by the door and a few scattered leaves complete the cozy autumn setup.

Havanese are small, sturdy and outgoing dogs that love being part of family activities, which might explain why this one jumped into the wagon. They are generally adaptable and do well in homes of all sizes, though they dislike being left alone for long stretches. Their long, soft coat can be kept natural or clipped shorter for easy care, and it tends to collect leaves and burrs after outdoor play. If you pull a dog in a wagon, keep the ride slow and steady, stay on smooth surfaces, and be ready for an unexpected jump. Small dogs can be hurt leaping from heights, even short ones.

Pumpkins come in all shapes and sizes, but only one in this wagon has a wagging tail. Biscuit may well be the most charming harvest of the season.
