A Silver Norwegian Forest Cat Watches Snow Fall at Sunset
Sunset colors the sky behind bare tree branches, and a fluffy silver Norwegian Forest Cat sits at the window, watching the first snow dust the yard. Her thick coat looks soft and her big plume of a tail curls neatly along the sill, while her gaze follows something in the distance. In the room behind her, a Christmas tree glows and a table is covered with a cheerful mess of books, blankets and mugs.
Norwegian Forest Cats come from a cold climate, and their thick double coats help them stay warm. They are large, athletic cats that love to climb, and many enjoy watching the outdoors from a high perch. Their long fur needs regular brushing, especially when they shed, to keep it free of mats. A window perch is a good source of enrichment for any indoor cat, but make sure the window is closed or screened. Cold glass can chill a cat, so a blanket or cushion on the sill is a kind touch.
We'll call her Aspen. She sits like a small queen of the evening, looking out at her kingdom. The snow falls, the lights twinkle and the house behind her stays warm, and she seems entirely content to be exactly where she is. It is a hushed and lovely evening scene, one of those quiet winter moments that come and go too quickly, and a very good reason to sit by the window yourself.
