The Snow Was Fresh, the Antlers Were Crooked, and Dasher Was Ready
A fresh dusting of snow covers the wooden porch, and a tuxedo kitten in a pair of tiny reindeer antlers sits right in the middle of it. Its white chest and four white paws are neat as can be, and its green eyes look off to the side at something interesting. A wreath with a plaid bow decorates the door behind it, and a blue sled leans against the fence in the yard.
Cold weather is a good moment to remember that kittens are not built for long stints outdoors. Their small bodies lose heat quickly, and snow, ice, and salt used on walkways can irritate paws. Even a short outing should be supervised, and paws should be wiped off after coming inside. Most vets recommend keeping cats indoors where it is safer and warmer, and a window perch gives them the winter view without the risk. If your kitten has never seen snow, a quick peek from the doorway is a gentle introduction.
This little reindeer, whom we might name Dasher, takes in the scene with calm curiosity. The antlers sit a bit crooked, but nothing about the look is shy. Tuxedo cats are often described as outgoing and playful, and this one seems ready for any adventure the winter has to offer, as long as a warm spot is waiting inside.
