Christmas Morning Was Happening, and Pip Was Taking Careful Notes
A wiry white and tan puppy sits in the foreground, ears alert and eyes turned to the side, while behind it a family opens gifts. A smiling woman in a green sweater, a man in a plaid shirt, and a boy in a red patterned sweater sit amid sheets of green wrapping paper and open boxes. The tree glows in the corner, and morning light pours through the window and warms the whole room.
Jack Russell Terriers are bright, bold, and full of energy, bred for chasing and digging. A puppy of this type usually needs lots of exercise and mental games to stay out of trouble, and holiday mornings can be quite exciting. To keep the day safe, pick up wrapping scraps, tape, and small toy parts that might be swallowed. Make sure a pup has a few of its own toys to open, and offer it a calm break if the noise gets too much. A short walk beforehand can help take the edge off all that pep.
This keen observer, we will name Pip, is on his best behavior, sitting politely and taking in the show. The paper rustling and happy voices are very interesting, and his face says he will be ready to join the fun the moment he is invited. Sometimes the best gift is just being in the middle of it all.
